The Snow Queen~~~~~~~~~~~~
How it
really ended.
...Gerda went on till she came to the large empty hall, and caught sight of Kay; she knew him directly; she flew to him and threw her arms round his neck, and held him fast, while she exclaimed, “Kay, dear little Kay, I have found you at last."
But he sat quite still, stiff and cold.~~~~~~~~~~~~

-- Practicing my photo-manipulation techniques.
mine is Hans Christian Andersen too
-- The story The Snow Queen has always struck me as being a hell of a lot darker than people seem to think it is. Especially if you read between the lines.
The Shepherdess & the Chimney Sweep is an excellent story to play with. There's a ton of potential there for cruelty -- just as you outlined.
Good luck!
-- That's exactly what I was trying to evoke.
-- For once, the Heroine rescues the Hero!
